A note on public health career opportunities with the US federal government:
Since January, 20, 2025, the current administration has eliminated more than ~100,000 employees from the US federal workforce.
Although legal experts and constitutional scholars believe these are illegal firings and buyouts, public health employment opportunities within the US federal government remain uncertain at this point in time. I sincerely hope this isn’t the case for long.

▪️ Public health needs you.
It’s worth repeating: public health needs you. From where you’re sitting, it may be difficult to believe—especially if your public health job search leaves you feeling frustrated, discouraged, and burned out.
▪️ The job search process feels overwhelming. You’re not alone.
The job search process feels haphazard at best, the public health job market seems unfavorable and too narrow, and if one more application requires you to manually input all of your details after uploading your resume…sounds obvious to mention this last one, but even the tiny frustrations add up.
You’re in good company. I’ve been there myself—more than once. And so have hundreds of job seekers I’ve collaborated with over the past ten years.
▪️ There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about your public health job search, though.
One reason, in particular: Public health careers and job opportunities are abundant within government (although this appears to be changing at least until 2028…), and also within the private sector.
For additional reasons why optimism is warranted, learn more about my approach to collaborating with public health job seekers.
